Five Factors to Consider When Selecting a Pre-School

By on September 27, 2019

Pre-school is incredibly important for a child’s development. It’s the first time that your child will be out of the home, and this is also the time when your child will start developing some social skills and making friends. As parents, you need to be very careful about where you enroll your child. This decision could have a lasting impact on your child’s growth and development. In a big city like Bangkok, you have plenty of options to choose from. There are pre-schools that offer education in Thai, while there are several English schools as well. If your child is of the school-going age, you need to start looking for a decent pre-school. Here are five factors to consider when selecting a pre-school

  1. Location

The first and most important factor to take into account when looking for an English pre-school in Bangkok is the location. How far is it from your house? Does the school fall on your daily commute to work? This is important because Bangkok is a big city, so if you end up enrolling your child in a school that’s situated far away, it’s only going to be difficult for you. You will have to travel far and wide regularly to pick up and drop off your kid. Raising a kid is already quite hard, why make it harder?

  1. School Reputation

More importantly, you need to consider the reputation of the school. You will want to make sure that your child gets the best education that can be afforded to him or her, so you have to check the reputation of the school as well. You can talk to other parents who have enrolled their child in the pre-school you are interested in. If you can’t find anyone, simply do a bit of research online.

  1. Visit the School

Perhaps the most important thing that you need to do is visit the school in person. Find out about the extracurricular activities on offer and what kind of curriculum is being taught at the school. This will give you a better idea about whether your child will be able to adjust well into the school and whether they will receive a quality education from an early stage.

  1. Fees

What’s the fee structure like for the pre-school? You should ask the pre-school to send you a comprehensive list of their fee payments and then decide whether it fits well within your budget or not. It’s recommended that you do not put an excessive burden on yourself by enrolling your child in a more expensive pre-school.

  1. Meeting with the Teachers

You also need to meet with the teachers to find out what steps they take with their kids, what games they play, and the general environment in the classroom. It’s important that you do your research carefully before making a decision. These are just some simple things to help you figure out which pre-school is best for your kids.
